Creator of Sensory Reiki®
Reiki Master • Somatic Practitioner • Nervous System–Centered Healing
Aloha — I'm Amy Lynn Lohr.
I’m a Reiki Master, somatic practitioner, and the creator of Sensory Reiki® — an embodied Reiki method that weaves energy work with somatic touch, sensory artistry, breath awareness, nervous-system attunement, and intentional sequencing to create a deeply personalized experience of receiving.
For more than twenty years, I’ve explored the wellness world with one central curiosity: what helps people feel more connected to themselves — not only mentally or spiritually, but in a way they can actually sense and experience in the body?
That question has shaped my work, my teaching, and ultimately the development of Sensory Reiki®.
When I moved to Maui in 2008, something shifted. This island opened my heart and changed the way I understood presence, embodiment, healing, and connection. I’ll always be grateful for that chapter of my life and for the ways Maui continues to influence the work I offer today.
Over years of working hands-on with clients, I began noticing something.
Energy work could create beautiful moments of relaxation, insight, and change — but I became increasingly interested in how the body receives an experience, and what happens when Reiki is supported by intentional sensory cues, somatic awareness, choice, consent, and thoughtful integration.
That exploration became Sensory Reiki®.
Sensory Reiki® is not simply Reiki with additional tools.
It is a body-centered method guided by an intentional therapeutic arc while remaining responsive to the individual person.
The work may include Reiki, gentle somatic touch, breath awareness, sound, scent, texture, temperature, crystals, music, craniosacral-inspired listening, and other sensory elements.
But the goal is never to add more for the sake of adding more.
The artistry is in discerning what belongs, what does not, and what will best support the person in front of me.
A central part of my approach is nervous-system attunement.
I pay attention to pacing, breath, comfort, sensory preference, movement, stillness, and the subtle ways the body communicates throughout a session.
Sometimes the most supportive experience involves more sensory input.
Sometimes it involves less.
Every session is collaborative, consent-centered, and personal.
The structure creates the container. The sensory expression remains unique to you.
Sensory Reiki® also includes intentional preparation and integration.
Before the table work begins, we connect, talk about your intention, establish preferences and boundaries, and explore sensory elements together.
Afterward, I slowly guide you back into the room and body, allow time for grounding and reflection, and follow up after the session.
To me, the way someone enters, receives, and returns from an experience all matter.
People often tell me they leave feeling calmer, clearer, lighter, more grounded, or more connected to themselves.
Today, I offer private Sensory Reiki® sessions from my studio in Wailuku, Central Maui, couples Sensory Reiki® experiences, Distance Reiki for clients around the world, and Sensory Reiki® practitioner training and private mentorship for those who feel called to deepen their practice.
If something here resonates, I would love to welcome you into the work.
Mahalo nui loa.

MY SOMATIC & NERVOUS SYSTEM TRAINING
Over the past four years, I have engaged in deep independent study and applied practice in somatic touch, polyvagal theory, and nervous system regulation — integrating this work directly into the development of Sensory Reiki®. This includes the study of CT afferent fiber activation, somatic trauma touch, and autonomic nervous system sequencing.
My yoga therapy foundation — 400+ hours across trauma-sensitive yoga, yoga nidra, yin, and children's yoga taught on Maui since 2010 — is the basis for the embodied, body-led approach of every session I offer.
This self-directed immersion, combined with over 3,000 hours of hands-on client sessions, is what makes Sensory Reiki® distinct from traditional energy work.
